Wrap Up: December 2020

2020 is finally over! And 2021 has already been blessed by a new Harry Styles video, so things are looking up already in my book. But FIRST I want to share what I read in December.

December was another great month of reading for me, especially thanks to graphic novels and poetry anthologies. My goal for the year was 100 books, and it would not have happened without those two faster reads.

I nearly came in shy of my goal, but a quick trip to the library and four books on December 31st (two poetry, two graphic novels) put me right at my goal just hours before midnight.

For anyone looking into graphic novels, I highly recommend the Saga series - it's the bulk of what I read in December and the story is currently on a hiatus so you have time to catch up! Its a very *ahem* adult sci-fi/fantasy and its incredible. For a lighter and more contemporary vibe, the Check Please books are adorable and full of baking and hockey.

On to the December Wrap Up:

NOVELS

  • A Beautifully Foolish Endeavor ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

  • A Court of Mist and Fury ⭐⭐⭐⭐

  • Pride and Prejudice and Mistletoe ⭐⭐

  • The Twelve Dates of Christmas ⭐⭐⭐⭐

NOVELLAS / SHORT STORIES

  • My True Love Gave to Me ⭐⭐⭐

  • How the King of Elfhame Learned to Hate Stories ⭐⭐⭐⭐

POETRY

  • What Kind of Woman ⭐⭐⭐⭐

  • Milk and Honey ⭐⭐⭐

  • The Sun and Her Flowers ⭐⭐⭐⭐

GRAPHIC NOVELS

  • Saga Volumes 4 - 9 ⭐⭐⭐⭐

  • Blankets ⭐⭐⭐⭐

  • As the Crow Flies ⭐⭐

  • The Daughters of Y's ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Favorite of the Month: This is kind of a tough call since I really loved The Twelve Dates of Christmas for a cozy wintertime romance, but I'm going to give it to A Beautifully Foolish Endeavor. The first book (An Absolutely Remarkable Thing) was great, and Hank Green managed to top it with its sequel. Definitely recommend it if you're interested in something with a bit of sci-fi and social commentary.
