Witch of Wild Things by Raquel Vasquez Gilliland
304 pages | Published by Berkley
The Set Up: Eight years after her younger sister died, Sage returns to her hometown to rebuild her life, reconnect with her family, and her magical gift for communicating with plants. Suddenly, the past is haunting her in multiple ways; she’s the new coworker of Tenn, the boy who broke her heart in high school, and the ghost of her sister is literally following her around.
This was warm and cozy!! Even with some very real family drama, the story never felt heavy. I know this is magical realism but I really wasn’t expecting the twist towards the end of the story. The whole book had a cottagecore witchy vibe which was exactly what I was looking for.
I enjoyed Sage and Tenn together, they had a very effortless chemistry. Plus I was immediately on board for their teenage AIM crushes. I’m a millennial SUE ME. But my favorite relationships in the story were between the sisters.
