392 pages | Published by Perfectly Proper Press
Philly has moved to London now that her uncle inherited her family's estate, and she knows she must make a match to secure to future. When it becomes clear that her family has set her up to be married to a cruel and infamous duke, Philly turns to her only friend in London, Arthur Heywood, for help. He offers to help in the only way can think to: He offers her a marriage.
I started this series because I have an e-arc of the third in the series and I really can't just start with number three. The Work of Art was so cozy and every time I picked I felt very content and comforted. Despite the pretty dramatic events, the whole book had a light and calm tone.
At times I felt like the main characters was TOO kind...? I wanted her to show a little more fighting spirit, but we did get a bit of that fairly subdued scene. I've definitely preferred some of Mimi Matthews' newer characters, but this was still enjoyable and I look forward to moving on in the series.
