The Set Up: Izzy and Lucas work together at Forest Manor Hotel, a boutique family-owned hotel that has seen better days. Last year, Izzy confessed her attraction to Lucas in a Christmas card - which he laughed at and then proceeded to kiss Izzy’s roommate under the mistletoe instead. Now, with the building quite literally falling down around them, the two are tasked with organizing and selling the myriad of lost & found items that have been in the hotel for years - including a box of wedding rings. Izzy is determined to return the rings to their original owners, and after returning one results in a hefty reward, Lucas is assigned to help complete the mission. Forced to work together, Izzy and Lucas learn more about why saving the hotel means so much to one another, and that maybe they have more in common than could have ever imagined.

I’d absolutely recommend picking this one up for the holiday season. Even with the chaos happening in the hotel, it still felt like a cozy place to spend Christmas. The writing was just what I’ve come to expect from Beth O’Leary. Definitely a comforting read; a decent mix of lighthearted workplace romance with some real heart to it.

I loved every single character in this book. There was a definite found-family element at the hotel which just warmed my little heart. I think Beth O’Leary is good at creating fun characters that don’t veer into overly quirky pick-me girls or manic pixie territory. Even with the giant miscommunication issue happening eye roll I thought that the story was so fun - I could read ten more books about the different people working and staying at the Forest Manor Hotel.

Thanks to NetGalley and Berkley for the advanced e-book!
