Take Me Home Tonight

⭐⭐⭐⭐

Take Me Home Tonight Morgan Matson 416 pages | Published by Simon Teen

Kat and Stevie are bffs, both completely obsessed with their high school theater program. Without telling their parents, the friends head into New York City unaccompanied for the first time, each with their own idea of how the night will go. When they're accidentally separated, Kat and Stevie have equally wild nights.

Morgan Matson has such a knack for writing female friendship. While I typically prefer a more romance-focused YA story, the adventure of this book was just incredible. The plotlines weave in and out of each other and everything comes back full circle.

Personally, I loved the B-plot of Teri and her unexpected night - it was SO Adventures in Babysitting and unexpected - but I thought it had some of the funniest moments.

The book started a bit slow for me but I think we really needed to see Kat and Stevie in the context of school and the theater program to really have big pay-off towards the end of the book. Overall a fun one!!
