Sorted: Growing Up, Coming Out, and Finding My Place (A Transgender Memoir) Jackson Bird
320 pages | Published by Tiller Press
Jackson Bird is an activist, content creator, and at age 25 he came out as transgender. This memoir details his childhood struggling with feeling out of place in his female-presenting body and his journey to accepting himself, transitioning, and finding connections within the LGBTQ+ community.
This was a lovely memoir and a great audiobook. Fully appreciated the disclaimers and definitions Jackson provided at the start of the book to make sure everyone was on the same page. He was open and honest about his struggles and was able to describe his feelings while making it clear his story is just one of many. What a heartwarming book.
As someone who grew up in the Harry Potter fandom which is, um, LESS than ideal these days, I'm glad Jackson and others like him were able to use the community around it to create meaningful connections and work to make life better for marginalized communities.
