Rule of Wolves (King of Scars #2)

Leigh Bardugo

592 pages | Published by Imprint

Nikolai is fending off a war with Ravka, an assassination attempt from the Shu Han, plus the literal demon living inside him. Zoya is doing her best to be the general that Nikolai needs but has to also grapple with her new saint-like powers. Deep undercover in Fjerda, Nina is suddenly living under the roof of the most feared witch hunter in the country.

Y'ALL I CAN NOT! This is truly the first book I have ever put off finishing because I just didn't want it to end. I don't know if it's because now I've seen the Shadow and Bone show and can put some real faces to the characters, but I LOVED this book.

This felt like everything I loved about both the Shadow & Bone trilogy and the Six of Crows duology melded together into a fantastic story. We got Nikolai, we got Zoya and Genya, we got KAZ BREKKER! And Jesper! PLUS Alina and Mal? Honestly, it was like a happy (not happy, actually really heartbreaking sometimes) tour around the Grishaverse with all my faves.

Zoya and Nikolai had the standout storyline for me and I was SO pleased with how things worked out at the end of this one. Zoya's growth since we met her in the Shadow & Bone trilogy is just incredible. And you KNOW I screamed at the last line of the book - iykyk.
