Obviously: Stories from my Timeline

Akilah Hughes

Obviously is a collection of essays by comedian and podcaster Akilah Hughes on facing racism as a kid, life in New York and trying to make it in comedy, and dealing with our health care system.

I LOVE Akilah. I've been following her online for years, and she has been a co-host on one of my favorite daily news podcasts, What A Day. Not sure what took me so long to finally get a hold of this book, but I'm so glad I've finally read it. These essays were both hilarious and eye-opening. I was laughing out loud in public to some and tearing up at others. She balanced the two tones really well.
