linger Maggie Stiefvater 362 pages | Published by Scholastic Inc.

Following Stiefvater's Shiver, Grace and Sam have managed to make it through the winter, Sam's cure seeming to hold strong. Newly active in her life, Grace's parents have their doubts about her relationship with Sam, but her biggest worry is the sickness that she can't seem to get rid of. While Grace's health gets worse, Sam and Isabel do their best to help Cole, one of Beck's new wolves, to adjust to life in Mercy Falls.

Linger was a beautiful follow up to Shiver. I'm pretty sure I said it last time, but I just LOVE Maggie's writing. I've never read magical realism that actually felt as real as her stories. The world feels so grounded and normal, and yet there are werewolves. I seriously admire her abilities.

I still love Grace and Sam together. Their relationship is beautiful and romantic but it never feels cheesy. It could easily read as melodramatic but it never does, even when Grace's parents are trying to convince her that they are lusty teenagers.

I was really glad for the added points of view. The story could easily be told completely through Sam and Grace's eyes, but I was a big fan of the added bits from Isabel and Cole. I think it was an effective way to keep the reader engaged, and make this a much bigger story than just an ill-fated romance.
