John Green, Maureen Johnson, Lauren Myracle

Let It Snow is made up of three interconnected short stories that take place over Christmas. A winter storm breaks down a train, which sets off the series of events in all three stories; Jubliee finds herself stranded en route to her grandparents' house; Tobin and his friends go on a wild race to get to Waffle House; and Addie, heartbroken over a breakup, needs to deliver a pig to her best friend.

I picked this up for a couple of reasons - I wanted something to start off my Christmas/winter vibe books for the season, and I saw the preview for the Netflix adaptation. I'm a big believer in book-before-movie so I wanted to read this before watching! I really loved the intertwining plotlines and characters - one of my favorite things is seeing callbacks and knowing how all the characters in a particular world cross over each other.

Maureenn Johnson's The Jubliee Express was a cute and light opener for the book. I think Jubilee was my favorite protagonist, and I thought her chemistry with Stuart was great. I enjoyed her development in realizing that perhaps she deserved more than what she currently had.

My favorite of the three shorts was John Green's A Cheertastic Christmas Miracle - which honestly is not a surprise because I've never disliked a John Green novel. I just really like his writing style and voice. I'm a sucker for best friends falling for each other, so this one was right up my street. I think what I liked most about this story was that is felt the most like an adventure - I think John writes realistic teen adventures very well - they always make me wish I was still 17.

The Patron Saint of Pigs by Lauren Myracle was my least favorite of the three. Addie's story is, for the most part, is about gaining some new perspective - she struggles a lot when she is called self-absorbed. I really just found her to be unlikeable and a tad annoying.

Now that I've got this under my belt, I can't wait to watch it on Netflix! I have a feeling its going to be very Love, Actually for teens which I'm here for!
