Gentleman Jim (Somerset Stories #2)

Mimi Matthews

378 pages | Published by Perfectly Proper Press

Maggie Honeywell has always known that Nicholas Seaton, a stable hand at her estate, is her soul mate, and she helps him escape when her neighbor Fred frames him for theft. Ten years later, she still wonders what happened to her first love. But now, Fred controls her estate and her finances, and presumes that she will marry him because it's what her father wanted. When mysterious Visount St. Clare arrives in London, he bares a striking resemblance to Nicholas, and Maggie is convinced he is the boy who promised he would come back for her all those years ago.

Childhood friends! Second chances! Revenge!!

What a treat this book was. It was incredibly dramatic yet equally sweet and romantic. Maggie had all the spirit I love in a main character and I won't lie and say St. Clare remaining casual as he's being shot at isn't an appealing picture.

2023 looks like its the year of historical romance for me and I'm becoming a Mimi Matthews stan.
