In the final book of the Three Dark Crowns series, we find Mirabella has left the rebellion to stay with her sister Katherine - it looks like she has changed sides, but really she has a bigger mission. Arsinoe must find a way to heal Jules after the legion curse took hold of her so that they can finally put an end to Katherine's reign and try to stop the mist from rising against the people of Fennbirn.

This was a fine ending to the series. I wasn't really crazy about it, but it wrapped things up nicely and I was happy with the way it ended. It just seemed a bit rushed and pretty anti-climactic overall.

I will say that throughout the course of the series I could never see a clear path to the end of the story. I went back and forth about who would survive the series and the fate of the island, so it was nice to be surprised about the way the story ended.

I always assume that in a YA, there will be a major focus on a romance plot - especially when suitors are introduced in a big way like in this series. But over the course of the four books, I enjoyed seeing that part downplayed and the focus become much more about the sisters. We got a taste of romance and relationship, but at the end of the day, this was a story of sisters.
