The Set Up: Carrying guilt for her younger sister’s death, Finola’s plan is to become a nun in order to make amends. Her family is set on finding her a husband, but each time she has been able to drive the suitor away. Riley is a local hero to many, and is honoring his father’s wish to see him married when he meets with the town’s matchmaker. He knows having Finola’s family on his side is good for his business and his campaign for mayor, so he won’t be driven away easily.

This was a sweet story with really loveable characters, even if the Christian themes were a bit heavy for my personal taste. Then again, I’m the one who willingly picked up a book categorized as Christian, so, grain of salt.

Riley really stood out to me as a male lead, another one to add to my dandelion list. He was charming and sunny which was a perfect pairing for Finola, as sad as she is when we meet her.

The story as a whole was enjoyable but the stakes felt so low, especially when I think about Riley’s miraculous recovery from cholera (??). But based on what I know about the next book int the series I definitely want to read more.
