Bride mood board

The Set Up: Vampyres and weres have been enemies for as long as anyone can remember. Misery’s father, head of the vampyre council, has negotiated a strategic marriage between her and the alpha of the weres, Lowe. An outcast of the vampire community, Misery has no intention of being a part of this peace plan. But when she realizes her would-be husband might know something about the disappearance of her best friend, she agrees to marry Lowe so she can continue her search.

Bride was a delight and such a surprise. I was expecting dark and melodramatic paranormal smut but t’s actually a shockingly light and tender love story with some paranormal smut. It’s an open-door romance between a vampire and a werewolf - you know what you’re getting into.

Ali Hazelwood’s humor really shines through Misery (obsessed with a main character named Misery btw). I loved Misery’s humor and confidence despite essentially being the spare of her family. Lowe was a dream, both a solid man and a soft boi.

Some parts of the story were pretty predictable but I enjoyed the ride regardless. The mystery surrounding Serena and the breadcrumbs of her storyline had me hooked, and there were a lot of found family elements that I loved.

This one’s for the Team Jacob girlies, and I really hope a sequel is on its way.
