Drew gave up her dreams of being a travel photographer when she was left her grandmother’s beloved bookstore, The Book Nook. Now she spends her days shelving books, making sense of accounting, and hosting book clubs. Her grandma’s friends surprise her by bringing in a famous romance author, Jasper, for a book club event and there are instantly sparks between them. Drew is positive they would never work - she doesn’t even like to read! - but jumps at the chance to show him around Denver so he can find inspiration for his newest novel.

This was a perfectly fine book but it had the potential for a lot more, in my opinion. Jasper was open and honest, and Drew needed that in her life - but it felt rushed. I wanted more character development with her and unfortunately we just didn’t get it.

There were also some interesting family dynamic at play here that could have been explored more. I almost wish we had less of Drew’s friendship with Elsie and got more bonding with her sister.

A sweet book with a bit of spice but overall a meh for me.

Thanks to Netgalley & Berkley for the advanced e-book!
