A Court of Thorns and Roses (ACOTAR #1)

⭐⭐⭐⭐

A Court of Thorns and Roses (ACOTAR #1) Sarah J. Maas 419 pages | Published by Bloomsbury

While out hunting to provide for her family, Feyre kills a faerie in a wolf's body. Tamlin, an impossibly strong faerie arrives to demand her life as repayment for the one she took - she must leave her family and live out the remainder of her life in Prynthian, the faerie realm. As Feyre adjusts to her new life, she learns more about why magic seems to be fading in this realm, and how she can help stop that from happening.

FINALLY. There is SO MUCH hype around this story and I finally got to it. I've read the Throne of Glass series so I'm familiar with the SJM world of fae. I enjoyed this book a lot - I wouldn't say I'm obsessed like some of the book world seems to be - but this is only the first of the series so there's still time.

I really liked the Beauty & the Beast parallels and twists, and SJM does sexy faeries really well. I know it's early in the series but Lucien was my favorite over Tamlin, and I know there's more with Rhysand to come.

The book almost felt like two separate stories - Feyre learning about life with faeries and falling in love with Tamlin, and then the second story of her time under the mountain. I enjoyed that whole third of the book, but it felt a bit rushed. As big of a threat as Amarantha was supposed to be, it felt like she was introduced and defeated too quickly.

The ACOTAR fandom knows no bounds and I'm excited to see where the rest of the story goes!
