A Beautifully Foolish Endeavor (The Carls #2)

Hank Green

452 pages | Published by Dutton

Following the end of An Absolutely Remarkable Thing, this book moves from the perspective of April May to the POV's of her friends after her disappearance. Andy, Miranda, and Maya refuse to believe that April is gone, even while the rest of the world is trying to move on now that Carls have taken the Dream away. The three of them are each taken on their own journeys to try and stop the downfall of humanity.

A teaser: this book made me cry about a robot and a monkey.

Even better than the first. Sci-Fi isn't typically my genre but something about Hank's writing style draws me in.

This book was amazing and scary and hopeful and made my brain hurt just a bit. Hank talks about SO MANY issues here - social media and algorithms, cancel culture, power and who has access to it. I think anyone who is interested in the way that the internet in general has changed our world would like this story.

What I loved about this book more than the first was the added perspectives of the whole gang - I particularly enjoyed Andy and Miranda's POV.

God I hope Hank writes more in the future.
